“Players were baffled” – What went on behind the scenes that led to Conte losing the dressing room – report

Following the sacking of Antonio Conte, the Daily Mail has published a report shedding light on the problems that were brewing behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur.

According to the report, Conte’s training regime and playing style among other things created rifts between the Italian manager and his players.

The report reveals that Conte had his players run 2kms before matches, leaving the players baffled and questioning why they were wasting their energy before the game instead of reserving it.

Additionally, the players blamed his rigid defensive style of play for the team’s poor performances and results, with some senior members of the squad going as far as pleading with the Italian to let them be more expansive in their attacking play.

Furthermore, the report reveals that Conte called a meeting with the players to discuss their poor form in late January but when the players arrived, he walked out on them, asking them to find a solution on their own.

The revelations from the report suggest that the Italian had lost the dressing room, with players no longer willing to fight for him. Conte’s outburst at his players after the Southampton game now makes more sense in light of these revelations.

However, it is worth noting that this is the same group of players who turned against Jose Mourinho and Nuno Santos in the past. While Conte’s approach may not have worked out, it is clear that the issues at Tottenham Hotspur run deeper than just the manager.

With Tottenham Hotspur now looking for their fourth manager in two years, it remains to be seen who will be tasked with addressing these underlying issues.
