Report: Ange Postecoglou gives green light to sign Premier League star with 19 goal contributions

Newly appointed manager Ange Postecoglou has given the green light to sign Leicester City star James Maddison.

After a prolonged search, Tottenham’s managerial hunt finally came to end as Spurs announced the appointment of Ange Postecoglou.

The Australian has earned high praise after his remarkable job with Celtic with whome he has won 5 trophies in 2 years including a domestic treble.

Following his appointment, Daniel Levy is reportedly set to sanction a major squad overhaul with a number of first team players set to be let go.

A number of new signings are also expected to be made, players who would suit the new manager’s style of play.

One of the players strongly linked with the club is James Maddison.

Maddison has established himself as one of the league’s finest midfielders, consistently delivering top-level performances for several years.

Despite Leicester City’s underwhelming season, the attacking midfielder stood out, contributing 19 goals and assists, ten goals and nine assists in the Premier League.

According to 90min, Postecoglou has given the green light for the midfielder’s signing.

But Tottenham will be facing stiff competition from Newcastle who are also said be interested in signing him.

They made two bids for him last summer but both bids were rejected by Leicester City who were holding on to their £60m demand.

But with Leicester now relegated, the clubs will be able to leverage a better price for him.

Newcastle will have the advantage of offering him Champions League football and perhaps better wages too which would make it tricky for Tottenham to lure him.

It is interesting to see whether he joins Newcastle or goes to Spurs where under a new attacking manager he could be one of the main players.
