Report: Arne Slot Arrives In London For Spurs Talks

By Mark Brus -

Tottenham’s search for a new head coach has been vigorously underway for many weeks, and it would appear now that the hunt may be reaching its end. According to a report on The Boy Hotspur Substack this morning, Arne Slot was flown into Signature Flight Support at London Luton Airport yesterday via a private jet said to be owned by ENIC.

A few days ago, De Telegraaf announced that Slot’s agent was due to meet with the owners of Feyenoord to discuss the terms of a settlement, as the Dutchman is under contract with the Eredivisie winners until 2025. It is unlikely that this will be well received by Dutch fans, but when a big Premier League comes calling there tends to be a sense of inevitability about matters.

Tottenham will have had some explaining to do in their discussions, as this position has been somewhat of a poisoned chalice in recent years and Spurs. Current interim coach Ryan Mason, who will take Spurs to Elland Road for their last game of the season, is currently in his second spell as the stand-in man, as he was first needed after serial winner José Mourinho was sacked in 2021. Since then, Nuno Espírito Santo took charge for 17 games, and then Daniel Levy eventually landed his first choice, Antonio Conte. Conte wasn’t doing too badly, but he too was fired after a desperate performance against then, bottom of the table Southampton. Conte’s assistant Stellini stayed on, but that was an equally uninspiring spell.

Presumably Levy will be promising Slot meaningful changes, in order that the job appears less frantic.
