Talks over a new contract for Premier League manager stalls amidst ‘increasing’ interest from Tottenham

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new manager continues, and their attention has reportedly turned towards Fulham boss Marco Silva.

He has been doing a remarkable job at Fulham since taking over, winning the Championship with the club last season and securing promotion to the Premier League.

According to 90min, Spurs’ interest in the Portuguese has increased, and they may have received a boost in their pursuit.

The report states that talks over a new contract for Silva at Fulham have stalled, providing Tottenham with an opportunity to swoop in.

Fulham’s priority remains to tie the 43-year-old to a long-term deal, but their attempt to do so has suffered a setback.

Tottenham’s current manager, Antonio Conte, is all but confirmed to leave the club in the summer.

His contract expires at the end of the season, and he is not expected to sign a new deal.

The North London club has already started the hunt for a replacement, with several big names linked to the job.

Apart from Silva, former Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, and former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino are the other names linked with the job.

Pochettino is deemed the most favorite to return to North London, having previously managed the club from 2014 to 2019.

It remains to be seen who will take the reins at Tottenham next season, but the club will need to make a decision soon since who comes in will have an impact on summer signings as well as the future of their current stars like Harry Kane.
