“…the club can sack me” – Antonio Conte gives a brutally honest interview about his future at the club

By Mehdi Gokal -

Antonio Conte, the Tottenham Hotspur manager, has spoken out about his future at the club, stating that he does not expect to be sacked mid-season.

The Italian’s contract with Spurs ends at the end of the season, and it is widely speculated that he will not be signing a new contract.

Conte joined the London-based club last year and led them to a top-four finish, a remarkable turnaround from their poor start to the previous season.

At one point this season, Spurs were considered serious title contenders, enjoying their best start to a season in years.

However, their performances began to falter, and they are now out of all domestic and European competitions.

With Conte expected to leave at the end of the season, rumors have swirled that he could be sacked mid-season if Spurs’ results continue to deteriorate. However, Conte has now stated that he does not believe the club is considering such a move.

In the latest interview, Conte said (via TalkSport):

“You asked me about the future and I said to you that you don’t know what happens, because maybe the club can sack me.

“But I repeat, I don’t think the club is thinking this. The club sees every day what me and my staff, we are doing for this club. It was only an answer about my future.

“I think there is not one club that can tell the manager you stay here until the end of the season. You know football is really strange.

“You don’t know what happens tomorrow, you understand? But I repeat, in my opinion we try in every moment to do everything, me and my staff, and I think the club appreciates this.

He went on to say that he believes the club appreciates the work he and his staff have done for Spurs and that they are trying their best every day.

“We try in every moment to do everything, me and my staff, and I think the club appreciates this.”

“Because if you continue to ask me if I sign a new contract, it means that maybe the club appreciates what we are doing, the work that we doing, in this one-year-and-a-half.”

Conte’s comments come as Spurs face a crucial period in their season, with their only remaining target a top-four finish.

The club has reportedly already started the search for a new manager, with a number of high-profile candidates being linked to the job.

As for Conte, he remains focused on the task at hand and is determined to see Spurs through to the end of the season.
