Tottenham ‘interested’ in signing 23-year-old attacker who struggled with London rivals

By Saikat -

Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix was on loan at Chelsea during the second half of this season.

The 23-year-old had a mediocre spell with the Blues (four goals in 16 league games) and Chelsea have decided not to sign him permanently.

Atletico Madrid are now looking for other suitors for the 23-year-old Portuguese international and a report from Onda Cero claims that clubs like Aston Villa and Tottenham are ‘interested in taking over his services’. It is no secret that Tottenham need to add more attacking depth to their side but Felix would be a gamble for them.

The 23-year-old failed to score goals consistently with Chelsea and it remains to be seen whether he can hit top form with Tottenham if the transfer goes through.

That said, he is quite young and he is a world-class talent. Ange Postecoglou specialises in getting the best out of his players at the Australian could unlock his potential next season.

Given his performances at Chelsea and the fact that Atletico Madrid do not see him as a key player, he could be available on a bargain. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can secure his services for a reasonable price.

Felix was regarded as a world-class talent during his time at Benfica, but he has not been able to recapture that form since leaving the Portuguese club. He will be desperate to get back to his best, and it remains to be seen whether he is ready to move to Tottenham.

The report claims that the player is keen on joining a club in the Champions League and Spurs will not be able to provide him with that platform.
