Lucas Moura’s agent has confirmed that a number of European clubs have approached him to hold talks regarding a move for the Brazilian.
The midfielder’s contract with Tottenham Hotspur is set to expire this summer, and the London club has no plans of offering him a new contract.
As a result, Moura will be available as a free agent come summer, and he is allowed to pre-agree a deal with a foreign club in the last six months of his contract.
There was hope for Spurs to cash in on Moura with recent reports linking him with a move to Turkish club Fenerbahce, with their transfer deadline extended due to the earthquake.
However, with the extended transfer deadline ending and no deal agreed, Moura will leave for free in the summer for sure.
He has been linked with a number of clubs from all over the world, with the most recent report linking him to a move to Palmeiras.
However, his agent Junior Pedroso has dismissed any such links and confirmed that they are “meeting” with a number of clubs from Europe.
He told Jorge Nicola’s YouTube Channel (via Sports Witness):
“It’s not true. There was no contact from Palmeiras. No poll, no proposal. It is still early to close with any club. I can assure you that we are meeting with many interested teams in Europe.”
Moura signed for Spurs in January 2018 from Paris Saint-Germain and played a huge role in their brilliant Champions League run under Mauricio Pochettino in the 2018/2019 season where they reached the final, only to lose to Liverpool.
However, this season has been hampered with injuries, and he has seen himself move down the pecking order with the likes of Kane, Son, Kulusevski, and Richarlison all ahead of him.
Despite his recent lack of game time, Moura is still a talented player who could be an asset to many teams. He has a wealth of experience and has played at the highest level for both club and country.
As a free agent, he could prove to be a bargain signing for any club looking to bolster their squad.
