Latest: Massive boost for Spurs as club tells ‘extraordinary’ midfielder he is free to leave

According to a report from ‘Sport‘ in Spain, Barcelona are now willing to let Franck Kessie leave, with Spurs keen on signing him.

Tottenham are thought to be interested in Kessie again after missing out on him earlier this year. Kessie chose Barcelona over the North London club, despite Fabio Paratici’s wish to sign him.

According to earlier reports, Xavi told Kessie that he’d prefer to keep him. However, latest update appears to indicate that the player could be on his way out soon, with the Spanish club considering both a loan and a permanent transfer.

It remains to be seen whether Spurs will pursue him, however, Barca’s apparent willingness to part with Kessie might encourage Paratici to make a move.

Kessie’s impressive performances with AC Milan earned him a move to Spanish giants. In 223 appearances for Stefano Pioli’s side, the Ivory Coast international scored 37 goals and made 16 assists, including six in the Scudetto-winning 2021-22 season.

But Kessie, who has been dubbed ‘extraordinary‘ by Vincenzo Montella, has not been able to replicate his form from Milan in La Liga.

He has had a rather difficult time with Barcelona having made only two starts in the league and a further five appearances from the bench, and has seen youngsters like Gavi and Pedro rise above him in the pecking order.

Kessie could be a good option for Spurs if he is available for a low fee or on loan. They will need some reinforcements to make the top four. And, if Conte can get Kessie to fire, he’ll be a wise acquisition.
