Offer made: Tottenham have reportedly launched a first bid for ‘extraordinary’ midfielder

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to reports, Tottenham have made a transfer bid of around €15 million for Barcelona man Franck Kessie.

Since joining Barcelona on a free transfer from AC Milan in the summer, the Ivory Coast international hasn’t appeared on a regular basis, and it appears that a January departure may already be a realistic possibility.

Tottenham are reportedly interested in a midfielder to bolster their squad ahead of a hectic pile of fixtures, and given Conte’s familiarity with the player from his time in Serie A, he could be a good option for Spurs.

Spurs are said to be keen on taking advantage of the player’s current situation at Barcelona by signing him for a bargain price.

And journalist Alfredo Martinez has reported that ‘an offer from Tottenham for Kessie’ is on the table with Spurs having offered close to 15 million euros for the player.

It will be interesting to see whether Barcelona accepts this kind of offer for a player who doesn’t appear to be in their plans, as other clubs may be tempted to enter the race as well.

This report surprisingly comes after Romano’s claims that the player is expected to stay at the club until the summer.

Kessie’s outstanding performances for AC Milan earned him a move to the Spanish giants. In 223 appearances for the Italian side, the Ivory Coast international scored 37 goals and assisted 16 others, including six in the Scudetto-winning 2021-22 season.

However, Kessie, dubbed “extraordinary” by Vincenzo Montella, has struggled to replicate his Milan form in La Liga.
