“They’d be open to offers” – Sky Sports man claims Conte is open to selling Tottenham star despite brilliant performance against Palace

According to recent reports, Antonio Conte would now be willing to allow Matt Doherty to leave the club during the January transfer window.

This possibility has been suggested by Lyall Thomas, the editor of Sky Sports, who believes that Tottenham would now be open to offers for Doherty, who has been with the club for the past two and a half years.

Since joining Tottenham, Doherty has had a difficult time securing regular playing time, due in part to the frequent changes in management at the club.

Under Conte, Doherty has only made five starts in the Premier League this season, despite being praised as “sensational” just a few months ago. Of these starts, two have come in the two games following the World Cup break.

However, despite his recent return to the starting lineup, Lyall Thomas believes that Conte would still be willing to allow Doherty to leave if a suitable offer were to arrive in the current transfer window.

Thomas said on The Last Words on Spurs:

“I think they’d be open to offers for Matt. I think they were open to offers for him in the summer.

“He’s not quite done it at Tottenham in general. I don’t think he’s quite hit the promise that they would have hoped that he would. And there’s various reasons for that.”

Last week it was reported that it is Emerson Royal who is now set to be sold by the club after he was involved in a training ground spat with one of Conte’s training staff. And it was reported that him being dropped to the bench is also due to the falling out.

And as per the rerport, Djed Spence is also set to be loaned out in January.

It is unlikely that all three players would leave the club in one transfer window, as it would leave Conte without any options at right wing-back. However, it seems that the club is also not willing to spend on their reported primary target, Pedro Porro.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham’s interest in Sporting CP wing-back Pedro Porro has waned after learning of his price tag.
