Tottenham receive huge injury boost ahead of Manchester City clash

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham have received a huge boost as Richarlison and Lucas Moura have both been declared fit for Sunday’s Premier League match against reigning champions Manchester City.

Richarlison missed last weekend’s FA Cup match due to an adductor strain. meanwhile, Lucas Moura has been out of action for most of the season due to a tendon issue and has only played 12 matches this season.

Assistant manager Cristian Stellini who will be taking the charge in the absence of Conte confirmed that both players could face Man City. In his pre-match press conference, he said (via Football London):

“Yes we have Richarlison had a small problem and now he is available. He has been training this week and he is available.

No, no [new] injuries. We recover also Lucas and we are happy to say that because Lucas has been training this week. He played 45 minutes with the young team and is back.”

Pape Sarr also has a chance of being fit for the match, and Tottenham could have a fully fit squad against Man City.

New signing Pedro Porro will also be in contention to make his debut for Tottenham, however, according to the most recent report, Stenelli could give Emerson Royal the nod ahead of the January signing in the absence of Antonio Conte.

The Italian underwent emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder and Stenelli admitted that his return date is not yet confirmed He said:

“We don’t know yet when he is coming back. The surgery was good. He’s recovering well at home [in Italy]. We have two days before the game and anything can happen.

“The decision will be made tomorrow. We are ready to do everything and Antonio probably the doctor who did the surgery they have to decide for him. We have 48 hours, two days to decide.”

Spurs currently sit 5th in the table with 36 points, 3 behind Manchester United who have one game in hand and a win against City will be huge for their push for the final Champions League place.
