Boost for Spurs as Tottenham star returns from injury

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur have received a welcome boost with the news that goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is on track to make a return to the first team in the coming weeks.

The Frenchman sustained an injury during their victory over Manchester City in February, and initial reports suggested he could be out of action for up to eight weeks.

However, an update from injury expert Ben Dinnery last week indicated that Lloris is on course for an early return and is likely to be fit and ready to be back in action in early April, following the international break.

And Dinnery’s update seems to be spot on with the Frenchman taking part in a 70-minute friendly against Ipswich Town earlier today, which is a clear sign of progress in his recovery, as reported by the Evening Standard.

The news of Lloris’ imminent return is undoubtedly a huge boost for Tottenham, who have struggled in recent weeks.

With Fraser Forster having stepped up in the absence of the Frenchman, Spurs have managed to keep their hopes of a top 4 alive.

However, the return of their captain and one of their most experienced players will give them an added edge in the coming games.

It remains to be seen whether Lloris will immediately regain his place in the starting lineup or if Forster will continue between the sticks.

Tottenham’s next game is against Everton on April 3rd, and it will be interesting to see if Lloris is deemed fit enough to feature in the game.

Lloris has been a key player for Tottenham since his arrival in 2012, and his experience and leadership will be crucial in the final stretch of the season.
