“Premier League clubs interested in him” – Tottenham ace who starred against Nottingham Forest is expected to be sold this summer

By Mehdi Gokal -

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King believes Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will leave the club despite solid performance against Forest.

Hojbjerg who is reportedly considering a departure from North London this summer, had a promising outing during Spurs’ recent 3-1 league win against Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

The Danish midfielder stepped in to replace Yves Bissouma at halftime, with the game tied at 1-1.

Ange Postecoglou’s midfield substitution proved to be a stroke of genius as the Lilywhites swiftly netted two goals early in the second half, ultimately securing a 3-1 victory.

Hojbjerg put on a good display during his 45 minutes on the pitch. Out of his total 66 touches, he completed 52 out of 59 passes, boasting an accuracy rate of 88%. Notably, six of these passes were made in the final third, and he achieved a 100% success rate with his attempted long balls. The 28-year-old also made contributions defensively, making 2 interceptions, executing 3 defensive actions, and recovering the ball 4 times. (FotMob)

King believes Hojbjerg will be a person of interest in the summer

However, King suggests that Hojbjerg’s desire for regular first-team football may not align with manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans at Tottenham.

King acknowledged Hojbjerg’s aspirations for consistent starting opportunities and speculated on potential Premier League interest in the midfielder if he continues to perform at such levels.

He told Tottenham News:

“I think his cameo appearance against Forest was beneficial, he was impressive.”

“But Hojbjerg wants regular first-team football, I think he wants to start every game, and I am not sure whether Postecoglou can offer him that at Tottenham.”

“As long as he plays like he did against Forest, there will certainly be Premier League clubs interested in him.”

Hojbjerg’s contract is nearing its end, with less than 15 months remaining before its expiration in June next year.

If Spurs fail to sell him this summer, they will risk losing him on a free next year, which is something Levy will look to avoid.
