Fresh blow for Tottenham ahead of the game against Nottingham Forest

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that star striker Richarlison will miss the upcoming game against Nottingham Forest due to a lingering knee injury.

The Brazilian forward has been grappling with the knee issue for several weeks now, with the injury initially sustained during a match against Wolves in February.

Despite his return to action as a substitute against Fulham, Richarlison revealed ongoing struggles with the knee problem while on international duty with Brazil.

Although deemed fit enough to feature on the substitutes’ bench in recent matches against Luton and West Ham, it appears that the knee issue may be more serious than initially thought.

Ange confirms Richarlison setback

Postecoglou addressed the media ahead of the Nottingham Forest encounter, confirming Richarlison’s absence from the squad for this fixture.

However, the manager expressed optimism regarding the forward’s potential return for the game against Newcastle.

He said (via Evening Standard):

“The only one is Richy (Richarlson). He’s had a bit of a niggle with his knee these last few weeks. We figured it is kind of best he takes his weekend off and gets ready for Newcastle next.”

Richarlison’s absence is a blow for Spurs

Richarlison’s absence comes as a setback for Tottenham, given his recent stellar form. The Brazilian has been a pivotal figure in Spurs’ attack, notably scoring nine goals in his last 12 Premier League appearances following his recovery from a groin surgery in December.

With Tottenham eyeing a coveted top-four finish in the Premier League, Postecoglou will be eager for Richarlison’s swift recovery to bolster the team’s attacking prowess and maintain their push for Champions League qualification.
