“No-one likes this boy” – Pundit singles out Tottenham star for his recent performances

Tottenham striker Richarlison has fully turned his form around following his recovery from groin surgery.

The Brazilian striker struggled in his debut season in North London, after joining from Everton in the summer of 2022 in a deal worth £60m.

Last season, Richarlison scored just one goal in 27 appearances, drawing criticism and earning the label of a flop due to his struggles to justify the significant transfer fee. The underwhelming performance continued into the early part of the current season, with only one goal in the initial ten Premier League games.

However, following groin surgery, Richarlison has experienced a remarkable turnaround. In the last eight Premier League games, he scored nine goals, playing a crucial role in earning six points for Spurs during this period.

Former Spurs manager Tim Sherwood praised Richarlison’s recent form and expressed that it was a matter of time before the Brazilian showcased the level of performance seen with the national team.

Speaking on Premier League Productions (via HITC), Sherwood acknowledged Richarlison’s impact and noted that the forward tends to be disliked by opponents, a testament to his effectiveness on the pitch.

He said:

“He does in a Brazil shirt, doesn’t he. He is a tremendous player in a Brazil shirt. We were just waiting to see it.

“He is one of them players who everyone hates unless he is in your team. No-one likes this boy, and that’s the biggest compliment I can give him. His teammates do and so do those Tottenham fans, but if he isn’t in your colours, then you don’t like him.”

He was on target once again at Goodison Park on Saturday, as he netted two goals against his former club.

Despite Ange Postecoglou’s side being on the verge of securing all three points, a stoppage-time equaliser by Jarrad Branthwaite shared the spoilers.
