Pierre-Emile Højbjerg wants to part ways with Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
The upcoming transfer window is going to be very important for the North London club. They are expected to make quite a few changes to their squad. While there will be a lot of incomings, a few of their players will also be parting ways with the club.
Pierre-Emile Højbjerg is someone who hasn’t had enough game time in the ongoing season. The Danish international is ‘unhappy’ because of the lack of first-team action under Ange Postecoglou and wants a way out as per Pete O’Rourke via Football Insider.
Højbjerg has been one of the mainstays of Tottenham since joining them from Southampton back in 2020. He was a regular feature until last season but it has all changed since the arrival of the former Celtic manager. Last season, Højbjerg was involved in 44 matches and racked up close to 3,900 minutes. In the ongoing campaign, he has featured in 34 matches but has been on the pitch for less than 1,300 minutes.
Hojbjerg’s Tottenham exit would be ideal
Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma have been the preferred choice in the centre of the park under the Australian manager. The Danish international has been forced to settle for a place on the bench. While he remains a key first-team player and has been involved in 31 league games this term, the lack of game time has frustrated him and he is seeking a way out.
The 28-year-old is expected to leave the North London club having been liked with an exit for a long while. With his contract running out in the summer of 2025, the upcoming window will be Tottenham’s best chance to raise a decent fee from his departure.
