Player with 39 goals and 27 assists for Tottenham is engaged in talks over a move to Saudi Arabia, journalist confirms

According to Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Lucas Moura is set to make a move to Saudi Arabia as his contract with Tottenham Hotspur expired in the summer, and the club decided against renewing it.

This marks the end of Moura’s six-year tenure at Tottenham.

Moura has been a key player for Tottenham during his time at the club and played a vital role in their remarkable Champions League campaign during the 2018/2019 season, which culminated in a memorable journey to the final.

However, the past season proved to be challenging for Moura as he struggled with injuries and found himself lower in the pecking order behind the likes of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, and Richarlison.

The journalist claims (via Sport Witness) that while Moura’s preference was to move to a club in Europe, none of the offers he received came from top leagues or clubs competing for titles.

As a result, he is now engaged in talks with two Saudi clubs, both of which are offering significantly higher financial packages compared to other interested clubs.

The identities of the Saudi clubs remain undisclosed, but Nicola suggests that one of them is a top-four club in the Saudi Pro League, while the other is a more ‘modest’ team.

It is worth noting that Moura has previously expressed his desire to eventually return to his home club, Sao Paulo, to conclude his career.

During his time at Tottenham, Moura made 221 appearances, scoring 39 goals and providing 27 assists, making him a beloved figure among the club’s fans.
