“He’s better suited to Spurs” – Pundit believes 24-year-old Premier League star would be perfect for Tottenham

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham remains active in the transfer market ahead of the upcoming window, with their attention firmly fixed on a longstanding target.

Spurs have been after Chelsea star Conor Gallagher since last year, but despite two transfer windows passing, the move has yet to be materialised.

Rumours suggest that the Lilywhites are contemplating making an early bid for the Englishman in the summer, potentially paving the way for a summer transfer.

Former Scottish footballer Pat Nevin thinks that Gallagher would seamlessly integrate into the North London outfit, particularly under the guidance of Ange Postecoglou.

Nevin says Gallagher is better suited for Tottenham

Pat Nevin shared his thoughts on the prospect of Chelsea selling Conor Gallagher, emphasising the financial considerations that could drive such a move. In discussing Gallagher’s potential destination,

Nevin floated Tottenham as a viable option, citing the player’s compatibility with their playing style.

Speaking to Grosvenor Sport, the pundit said (quotes via Metro):

“In an ideal world where finances are all balanced, Chelsea would absolutely not be looking to sell Conor Gallagher.

“You wouldn’t be surprised if he went to someone like Spurs signed Conor Gallagher, obviously that would be particularly painful for Chelsea fans. But what a player he would be for them, I’d probably say he’s better suited to Spurs, the way he plays.

“The transfer situation is really quite delicate with Chelsea because we don’t know who is making the decisions and that’s what it comes down to.”

Gallagher has been a key player for Chelsea

Gallagher has been a constant presence in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up, being named in the starting XI for all 30 Premier League matches he has been involved in this ongoing campaign.

The Chelsea head coach regards the Cobham academy graduate as an integral part of his squad and is actively working behind the scenes to secure a new contract for the 24-year-old, aiming to ensure his continued presence at Stamford Bridge.

The attacking midfielder’s contract with the Blues is set to expire in less than 15 months, concluding in June of the following year.

With no contract extension in sight, he would be free to engage in negotiations with interested parties in the summer, with Spurs likely being a primary contender.
