Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Darren Bent has urged the club to sign Harvey Barnes and James Maddison during the summer transfer window.
Both players are expected to leave Leicester City this summer after the Foxes were relegated to the Championship.
Bent claims that Tottenham should offer substantial money for the two players and they would improve Tottenham significantly.
Bent said on Talksport: “I think him (Barnes) and Maddison should be in the Premier League. Someone could be quite clever there. If they bid enough money, they might get them as a package deal.
“If you are Tottenham, you are looking at Harvey Barnes and James Maddison, I would put a big lump of cash. If they were to put on the table £80 million, for them two players, they are two very good players.”
It is no secret that Tottenham need to improve their midfield options and they need to add more creativity and goals to the side.
Both Maddison and Barnes would add creativity and goals from the middle of the park. Barnes is versatile enough to operate as a central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. Similarly, Maddison can operate as the central attacking midfielder and he will help create more goalscoring opportunities for the attackers.
Maddison picked up 10 goals and nine assists in the Premier League this past season and he will be hoping to play for a big club next year.
Both Barnes and Maddison are too good for the Championship and they will be hoping to return to the top flight soon.
Harvey Barnes scored 13 goals in the Premier League this past season, and both players would add a new dimension to the Tottenham midfield.
The newly appointed manager Ange Postecoglou prefers free-flowing attacking football, and the two attacking midfielders could help him execute his exciting brand of football at Tottenham. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to bid a substantial amount of money for the two players in the coming weeks.
