Tottenham ‘trying to overtake’ Euro giants in the race to sign 26-yr-old star

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Morocco international Sofyan Amrabat.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are keen on signing the midfielder as well.

The 26-year-old made his mark in the recently concluded World Cup and helped his country reach the semifinals. He was outstanding for Morocco and his performances have clearly caught the attention of the big clubs.

The tough-tackling midfielder could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham who need to add more physicality and defensive steel to their side.

Apparently, Barcelona view him as a low-cost alternative to Sergio Busquets and they are hoping to sign him this summer.

The report from Foot Mercato claims that Tottenham are now ‘trying to overtake’ the competition and secure his services.

Fiorentina value the player over €25-€30 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to pay up.

The London club certainly have the finances to get the deal done and it will be interesting to see if they can beat the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona to his signature.

Tottenham will not be able to offer him Champions League football next season and that could work against them.

Bayern and Barcelona have both secured Champions League qualification and they are undoubtedly more attractive destinations for the player. Amrabat is at the peak of his career and he will want to join a big club capable of winning trophies. It remains to be seen where he ends up.
