Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov at the end of the season.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed on CaughtOffside that Tottenham are ‘seriously considering’ a summer move for the 21-year-old playmaker.
He is versatile enough to operate as the central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. He will add goals and creativity to the Tottenham attack. His creativity, composure and technical ability in the final third will help to open up deep defences and he will create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates with his passing and vision.
The 21-year-old has revealed that he is a fan of the Manchester City star Phil Foden and he’s looking to emulate the England international in terms of style and development. Foden has established himself as one of the best players in the Premier League, and it will be interesting to see if Sudakov can follow in his footsteps and develop into a key player for Tottenham if the transfer goes through.
“Now [my idol] is Phil Foden,” Sudakov told CaughtOffside. “I really like the way he plays. He is an incredible footballer. I also like Luka Modric very much, and I can highlight a third player – Andres Iniesta.”
Georgiy Sudakov could cost a premium
The 21-year-old midfielder has seven goals and three assist in all competitions and he could develop into an important player for the North London club, if he manages to adapt to the Premier League quickly and hit the ground running next season. Tottenham will have to improve their squad if they want to do well across multiple competitions and push for trophies next year.
Sudakov would be a future investment for Tottenham and he could prove to be a bargain in the long term if Tottenham manage to secure his services for a reasonable price. However, that seems unlikely because of his substantial release clause. The midfielder has a €150 million release clause in his contract.
