‘he could become a victim’: Former star expects Tottenham to get rid of 22-year-old ace

By Saikat -

Former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson feels that the North London club could cash in on Troy Parrott at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has been on loan at the Dutch club Excelsior and he has done reasonably well so far. The striker has eight goals in 15 starts for them and he has been linked with a permanent exit from the North London club.

Parrott needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and Tottenham are unlikely to be able to provide him with that opportunity. There is no doubt that Tottenham need to sign a quality striker who can lead the line for them, but the 22-year-old is simply not good enough to spearhead the attack of a side hoping to win major trophies.

While there is no doubt that the Republic of Ireland international has the quality to develop into a reliable Premier League striker, he needs to develop further and improve considerably before he can start for a club like Tottenham on a regular basis.

The North London outfit are expected to sign a new striker at the end of the season and Paul Robinson believes that Parrott could be sold to raise funds for summer arrivals. Tottenham will have to balance the books and comply with the financial regulations. They could look to get rid of fringe players due to PSR.

He told Tottenham News: “Well they’ve sent him out this season obviously for game time, and at 22 you would expect him to have more of an impact on the first team if he was part of the manager’s future planning.

“For him, he could become a victim of the FFP and PSR rules and the home-grown player Spurs might see an opportunity to cash in on a player that would quite quickly balance up some books that might not be looking in the right way.”

It will be interesting to see if they decide to cash in on the 22-year-old striker and invest the proceeds into the playing squad.
